Sussex Street Christian Centre (formerly Sussex Street Baptist Church) has been a Christian place of worship in the centre of Rhyl since 1863. The church is a beautiful Grade 2 listed building and all work must have conservation approval.
The fabric of the Church have deteriorated over the years. This led to water getting into the building and damage to the roofs and frontage. We are grateful to God for His provision of funds. This has been through church members, who have contributed a significant sum towards the building projects. A number of significant grants have also been given by various organisations towards the work. We would particularly like to thank the Welsh Assembly for their support through the Community Facilities Programme The re-roofing work is now essentially complete.
Work on the Frontage is on-going and re-painting of the interior of the church has started. About the church
The Church is situated in an area of high deprivation – one of the most deprived in Wales. In the past 158 years, we have served the community in many and varied ways. In addition to regular services, youth work & meetings, our congregation is heavily involved in Food Bank and Fare Share. We are also looking for new ways to help our community. Plans include opportunities for coffee & chat, signposting to appropriate help, teaching cooking & budgeting and social time for the elderly.
